Applicants who need in-person help to apply can visit a rent relief navigator at the Durham County Courthouse, in downtown Durham.

Helpline

Get help over the phone

When to call the helpline

  • You have received an eviction notice or have an eviction court date
  • You don't have reliable or affordable internet access
  • You have a disability that makes it difficult to use the internet
  • You have a question about the application process
  • You are a current applicant and you want to talk to your rent relief specialist


How it works

  • All callers: An automated greeting will instruct you to do different things depending on if you are a new or current applicant, or if you have received an eviction notice or have an eviction court date.
  • Callers facing eviction: If you have received an eviction notice or have an eviction court date, you can connect to Legal Aid of North Carolina's statewide Housing Helpline to see if you can get free legal help with your situation.
  • New applicants: You will be asked to leave a message. Someone will return your call within 48 hours.
  • Current applicants: You will be asked to dial the extension of your rent relief specialist
